Maupin Family
Hi everyone, I figure it's time for an update. Sorry for taking so long. Sometimes time can slip away from our busy lives and we end up neglecting the things most important. Like communicating with friends and family.
Anyhow, summer is quickly approaching, and it looks like we are not going to be coming home this summer. The cost of sending our family back to build financial and prayer support would be seemingly backwards. However the school graciously designed a plan to bring Amanda's mom and brother out here for part of the cost of our flight. So, they are going to most likely visit this summer. How awesome is that? My mom, and then Amanda's mom and brother visiting Japan! Alright... who wants to come next? In reality I would love to get some youth groups from our friends' churches out here to help on the mission field. Both OCSI, and Calvary Chapel Okinawa could use the helping hands.
Okay, so the updates: Amanda has had a pretty good year. Her class just finished Field Day, and we have a video below that shows the fun. My classes have been awesome! Today in Bible class we're going to take a small break from the Book of John, and have kind of an open debate, Q/A time. Also, this next week starting Sunday, I have a worship conference I am attending at Calvary Chapel Ginowan. I have just been totally excited about allowing God to change me and make me someone who lives in worship. It is not easy, but with his Word, and His Spirit, all things are possible. God has been so amazing in not only how He is working in Japan, but how He is continuously working in our lives.
I pray that you are all healthy, and allowing God to grow and change you. Please keep us in your prayers. We are sending our new letter out this Monday, so please be expecting that. We love all of you and thank you for your support.

Well... I can't believe it's already been a year. The locally acclaimed OCSI BAZAAR is here again. This is a major fundraiser for OCSI. It's like this huge yard-sale/carnival thing that we have annually here on campus. Last year it was a great success, and it was a lot of fun. People from all over the island flock here to get in on the sales and excitement. This year I'm trying to put together some live music from the various praise teams all over Okinawa (Calvary Chapel Okinawa included).
Anyhow, I'll be posting more about this later next week. Oh yeah.. before I forget... Amanda and I just bought a color printer this past weekend, and we hope to be sending out colored news letters via "old fashioned" snail-mail (Amanda's favorite kind).
We just got back from Wednesday night church, and watashi wa tsukaremashita. ("I'm tired" in Japanese)
God bless you all and please continue to keep us in your prayers.

Here is a video I put together to share a little of what we do here.
Again, thank you so much for your prayers and support.

Here is a video Jason and I did.
We got the idea from The Skit Guys, so sorry, not original work.
We created it and played it for the Secondary Chapel.
I guess it was a big hit to see their teacher's
dressed in drag and like a salesman.

I can't believe it's already March! However, it's not lost from the Lord. God is so awesome in His work here. His work in our lives and in the lives of the students of OCSI is fresh and new daily. Amanda and I have been working with both our students here at OCSI and our church family at Calvary Chapel Okinawa. Amanda has been teaching 4th and 5th grade during the second service, and Fred has been helping with the worship team. Although busy, it's awesome, I woke up this morning and read this from my morning devotional:

"If none of God's saints were poor and tried, we should not know half so well the consolations of divine grace. When we find the wanderer who has not where to lay his head, who yet can say, "Still will I trust in the Lord;" when we see the pauper starving on bread and water, who still glories in Jesus; when we see the bereaved widow overwhelmed in affliction, and yet having faith in Christ, oh! what honour it reflects on the gospel." (Charles H. Spurgeon: "My grace is sufficient for thee." --2 Corinthians 12:9)

I love how God will grab ahold of you and meet you where you're at. Even though we get tired, there is a peace and a joy from all we do. Thank you all for your support and love, please don't forget to keep us in prayer.

Hello everyone!
Well, today we had our annual Teacher vs Student softball game. It was a blast, and not to mention the teacher won. We beat the students 11 to 7. I mean... It's not whether or not you win or lose, it's "if you had fun" right? Well.. We got both.. hehe..
No really, it was a blast and the kids sure loved it. After the game we all roasted hot dogs and marshmallows and had a great time just hanging out. God is so good to allow me to be able to server Him in my life with these kids. They are such great people, I truly look forward to seeing them grow in life and in faith. Here are a few pictures of the game.

Blessings,

Fred
